Register for United in Faith Color Run 2 Miler

Who Should Participate? This event is open to any and all of whatever age – whether you’re a competitive runner, casual jogger, walker, or stroller. It’s an accurately marked two-mile event through the heart of one of the state’s oldest established towns. The course passes by almost 10 different Christian congregations, and hopefully there will be members along the route to cheer on participants. Where is event being held? The last two years we staged the event at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, and this year we are thankful that the United Methodist Church located at the corner of U.S. 67 (Plank Road) and Louisiana Highway 10. Our prayer is that the venue changes from year to year to involve a wide assortment of congregations. The actual address of the United Methodist Church is 11321 Old South Drive. Why on this date? Since Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11, we wanted a weekend date as near as possible to honor U.S. military veterans for their sacrificial service for our nation. Are there lots of collegiate football games on this day? Of course, but we’re hoping our early morning start will be such that all can come and have fun and then spend the rest of the day watching football. Typically this is a nice, cool fall day and that makes for a great outdoor event everyone can enjoy. Facilties and Support? We will have plenty of parking and restroom facilities. In addition, thanks to our generous sponsors, we will have plenty of water, PowerAde, and other refreshments before and after the event. Note Price Breaks for Registration and Late Registration Fees This year, we’ve staggered our entry pricing to help encourage folks to sign up early and often. Please note that race day registrations will cost the most since there is a bit more involved in signing up those who decide at the last minute to participate. Also, if you sign up online via imAthlete.com there may be a very modest service fee for doing so via the internet (go to faithchurchclinton.org). What’s a “Color Run”? As if running continuously for two miles isn’t enough, many event coordinators like to add a little “color” to the mix – literally. It’s a fun addition to many runs held around the world where harmless and easy-to-wash off powdered colors of the rainbow are thrown, dumped, “shot” over and at you. If you’re concerned about color hurting your fitness attire (and you really need not be concerned), you might want to plan accordingly. Schedule on the Day of the Event We start at 8 a.m. and the run itself will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be a service inside the church just before the run begins where we will honor God and U.S. military veterans. Remarks from pastors, veterans and veterans’ organizations will set a wonderful emotional foundation to launch runners into a fun morning through the clouds of color along the two-mile run course. Get your singing voices ready, too; we’re sure to sing such favorites as “God Bless America”!
