The Racing Rivals Triathlon is a sprint distance tri that will raise funds for college scholarships. The event is being sponsored by the local Huntsville area alumni chapters of Auburn, The University of Tennessee and University of Alabama. The funds raised by this event will be split by the chapters based on the affiliation designated by each race participant during registration. In addition to the exciting individual competition, there will be a "rivalry" competition between the fans of each school and the winning chapter will the awarded a grand trophy and bragging rights for the next year. This will be an exciting competitive atmosphere with the thrill of the race and the buzz of being on the eve of football season! The race will originate from Clearwater Lake in Owens Cross Roads, which is a beautiful private lake nestled in the valley just east of Green Mountain. The lake was designed and is used primarily for competitive waterskiing. The very clear water and relatively shallow depths allow for excellent conditions for the swim leg of the competition.
