Register for Nubble Light Challenge 2020

2020 Nubble Light Challenge has been postponed until August 2021 due to COVID 19. ******************************************************************************* The NUBBLE LIGHT CHALLENGE is back! This year's swim will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 8:30AM. The swim is a 2.4 mile swim course goes around the Nubble and through "the gut" located between the mainland and the island (see photos). The Nubble Light Challenge has been ranked in the top 50 best open water swims in the U.S. IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR 2020: 1) The 2020 event is a fundraising event for NAMI Maine. Fundraising is encouraged, but is NOT required. 2) If you raise $500, you can register to swim for FREE. Just create a fundraising page on ImAthlete. When you hit $500, we'll issue you a code for a free registration. 3) Open Water Swim Buoys must be worn by ALL swimmers. Information on where to purchase the buoys is provided on the event website. 4) The 2020 swim will not be timed as a race but will be timed so each swimmer will know their start and finish time. This is a journey swim, an epic one. 5) Minimum age of a swimmer is 16. Awards will be given the top top fundraisers. Every swimmer will receive a customized NLC finisher medal. An awards ceremony will be held near the finish line at Short Sands Beach. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Maine Chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI provides educational programs to the public and emergency service workers and support to families that are directly affected by mental illness. www.namimaine.org NAMI also educate schools and community agencies on how to identifying the symptoms and early warnings signs of mental illness.
