The McGuire First Sergeant Council is hosting the 8th Annual Gold Star Mother Memorial Ruck March on the 25th of October 2014. A Gold Star Mother is a mom that has lost a son or daughter while serving in defense of our country; you can find more information on their website at www.goldstarmoms.com/Depts/NJ/NJ.htm or www.goldstarmoms.com. Each year the McGuire First Sergeant council hosts this event to bring awareness and raise funds in honor of the Gold Star Mothers’ ultimate sacrifice. Last year we welcomed 15 mothers and we expect more this year. This event is to help give thanks to the Gold Star Mothers of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and around the nation. This event is open to all branches (Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps/Active Duty, Reserves, and National Guard) and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst civilian employees and family members. Starting this year by (invitation only) the event will also be open to Law Enforcement Agencies, Fire Fighters, JROTC members, DOD (DEP)-Delayed Entry Program, and the Boy/Girl Scouts of America. We are expecting to have over 400 personnel in attendance with 60+ teams competing and a special guest speaker. Family members/friends can accompany competitors. In order to access the base all spectators must be added to an Entry Authority List (EAL) prior to September 9th. All EAL requests must be sent directly to adam.clingan@us.af.mil The request must include: individual's full name, driver's license number, state of driver's license, and date of birth (DDMMMYY). Spectators 18 years of age and over must bring their valid driver's license and be on the EAL to enter. Spectators under 18 must be accompanied by another spectator already on an EAL or a DoD ID cardholder. NOTE: Children under the age of 12 cannot be left unattended on on any part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
