4th Annual 12 Heroes In 12 Hours` Event To Benefit "Spike's K9 Fund"

Register for 4th Annual 12 Heroes In 12 Hours` Event To Benefit "Spike's K9 Fund"

Starting at 8am Saturday October 16th, athletes will perform a "Hero WOD" every hour for 12 straight hours. Each HERO WOD is a specific workout designed to show remembrance and respect to some of our fallen heroes.

We're happy to announce that once again we will be raising money to benefit Spikes9 Fund https://spikesk9fund.org/

Spikes K9 Fund was founded by James Hatch, a retired Special Warfare Operator.

As a K9 handler on several deployments, James’ life was regularly spared by the work of K9s – one of the most memorable was Spike. And on James’ final deployment, the night he was critically wounded, a K9 spared James’ life while losing his own.

From that evening on, James oriented his life around the training, care and preservation of working dogs. In addition to working as the founder and president of the fund, he works with local law enforcement and has adopted a former service dog in need of medical attention.

James has been an integral part of the CrossFit community over the years.

About the 12 Heroes in 12 Hours:

The Hero WODs from CrossFit are named after Heroes who have given their lives in the line of duty - military or civilian. Each workout is hard, heavy, and long. We will publish the list of Hero WODs in advance of the event, so that our athletes can be prepared for the workouts.

Once again we will lead off this year's event with "Spike"

"Spike was a Belgian Malinois Dog assigned to me in 2005. He was killed on 23 December 2006 outside Ar Ramadi Iraq. He received a gunshot wound from a bullet that went through an enemy combatant that he was engaging. He was still attacking in spite of his wounds." Spike received the Silver Star Medal Posthumously.” -Jimmy Hatch

“Spike”

Hero WODS are known for their extremely challenging and often grueling nature. There is NO expectation that all athletes perform ALL WODs. This is a fundraising event FIRST, Endurance event second. Of course, we would love to see you knock out as many WODs as you want but safety and athlete care are our priority. There will be numerous scaled options available for the workouts and the event will be suitable for all fitness levels.

All workouts can be done as individual or as a team (Share the work as needed! Share! Share! Share!) We want this to be a "FUN" experience for all!

*Special Dog demonstration by the Virginia Beach Poiice Department at 12pm.

As much as we LOVE having your dogs in the gym, please hold off until after the dog demo is over for the safety of our furry friends. Thank you!

Hope to see you there to benefit a great cause! ....🙂
