The 5k open water swim across Tampa Bay is a fundraiser for the Navy SEAL Foundation. Each swimmer is required to have an individual kayak escort for both safety and navigation concerns. Most kayakers will be assigned a specific swimmer and are responsible for staying with the swimmer the entire distance. There will be other kayakers assigned to each wave as "rovers" to assist other kayakers and swimmers. If a swimmer needs assistance, the kayaker waves a support boat over to help. *YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN KAYAK AND REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT* and you must be at least 18 YEARS OLD.
